Meals on Wheels Moreton Bay Region Inc. Board of Directors

Bev Brandis – Secretary of The Board

I am currently Secretary of the Board & have been since the 2025 AGM. I have been a member of the Board since November 2021.
I have lived on Bribie Island with my husband since our retirement in early 2013. We have three children and eight grandchildren. When my children were secure in their school routines, I returned to Primary School teaching in the Gladstone area. In the year 2000, I took on my first role as Primary School Principal. After twenty – five rewarding years, I retired in 2013.
My association with Meals on Wheels began in November 2013 when I joined as kitchen volunteer in the Meals on Wheels Bribie Island kitchen. I still volunteer in the kitchen two days a week. I took on role of Treasurer in 2014 on the Bribie Island Committee & remained in that position until the amalgamation of branches into Meals on Moreton Bay Region Inc. in 2021. I took the role of Treasurer in November 2021 after the resignation of the Secretary/Treasurer. I remain a member of the Board and, as mentioned previously, am currently Secretary.
My previous experiences and learnings as an education leader, particularly managing budgets, strategic planning & managing people, stand me in good stead to be an active, productive member of the Board. My goal for the future is to contribute positively & productively to the implementation of Aged Care Reform changes, HUB kitchen planning & the continuing improvement of the organization.

When the merger to Moreton Bay Meals on Wheels took place in July 2021, Ann was put on the payroll to cook meals until a chef for the branch was found, which happened at the end of October. Ann became a Board Member in November 2021.

Prior to her involvement with Meals on Wheels, Ann worked as a Midwife and in Aged Care. She left nursing to help her husband in a supermarket and delicatessen, and they went on to run a Shell wholesale fuel business and a Service Station for 10 years. After that, they had a Commercial Landscaping business in Cairns until their retirement in 2014. Currently, they live in Narangba.
